Drone Cinematography for Feature Films

Enhancing Cinematic Storytelling with Expert Drone Aerial Footage

On a feature, the aerials have to cut against everything else, so we start from the camera package, not the drone. When the DP needs the air unit to match the main unit's sensor and glass, we fly the Freefly Alta X with the production's chosen camera and lenses. It travels van-ready, with the drone unfolding and the gimbal already built, and flies under our FAA Section 44807 exemption for aircraft over 55 lb. For coverage that doesn't need to match glass, the DJI Inspire 3 is smaller, cheaper to run, full-frame and dependable at night thanks to dual native ISO. We'll tell you which one the shot needs. Our crews are Local 600, carry $5M in aviation liability, and typically turn COIs around the same or next business day.

We plan the aerial work with the DP and first AD the way any other unit would: shot list, timing, safety meeting, and the FAA side handled by us. Production and locations handle the location. We've worked across feature films, network and streaming series, and national commercials. See a sample on our Work page.
